Disconnected Brief.

First I would have a close up on Jazz's face at the piano in a dark room dimly lit by a spotlight, then slowly zooms out so you can see her and the piano. She is singing and playing while this is happening. Then pans round the piano and then fades into Jazz and her brother in a mid shot, hugging goodbye. And then a close up on Jazz's face and she's is crying then cut to another close up of the brothers face also getting teary. Cuts back to Jazz at the piano, extreme close up on Jazz's hands playing the piano. Cuts to her brother sat in an Army truck with our soldiers being driven into Iraq. Mid shot of his face looking worried, gripping his gun in both hands. The truck stops and they all jump out. Cut back to Jazz, long shot of her and piano. And she starts getting emotional. Back to her brother in Iraq, he's running with his gun and there are bombs going off behind him. And other people are fighting and getting shot. Tracking shot of her brother running to safety and gets behind a wall.

Visualisation

For the music video to 'Disconnected' I would have Jazz sat at a piano playing and singing. While it cuts to Jazz and her brother saying goodbye to each other then he leaves for war. Then cuts of the war happening, man and women soldiers running with their guns and bombs going off etc.
And then have Jazz getting emotional as she's singing/playing as she thinks of her brother.
I'm telling a story of how Jazz's brother has gone to war and how much she misses him etc. And also shows what the brother is going through.

Initial Listen - Jazz Morley

The mood and tone is very sad, seeing as it's about her brother going to war. The name of the song is 'Disconnected' as her brother is so far away in a different country so she can't talk to him etc so that makes them disconnected.
She reminds of Adele, Laura Marling or Ellie Goulding as it's acoustic with some soul and passion. This is a really emotional song which can upset you if your in the same situation as her.
All of these artists usually just have a piano or guitar and then just them singing and let the audience connect with them on an emotional level.

Presentation

Our presentation went well. We described the clip with depth, looking at every element such as diegetic and non diegetic sound. We chose Scott Pilgrim vs Roxy Richter because it has a lot of different SFX, which makes it really interesting to watch.
We could have said a lot more about the clip to get a higher grade but overall I thought we did really well and tried to use as many words from the glossary as we could.
Making the presentation was easy, we always get on and do it straight away and try to get as much information in to it but left some out so we can talk about it without reading it off the screen. Which looks better then reading it word for word.
I have learnt a few different terms for different sounds within a scene/film. And how that a lot of the sounds we hear in films aren't even real, either put in during editing or pre recorded and dubbed in to the right places.

Coldplay

The song that I am analyzing is The Scientist by Coldplay.
The mood of the song is a very sad and slow. It's about regret, making breaking up with someone and thinking back on the memories, lyrics saying "I'm going back to the start" and "Running in circles"
But the video doesn't go with the lyrics because he's in a car crash with a girl, she goes through the window and dies. But he is unharmed and leaves and walks through the woods, then ends up in the city. And then just lays on a mattress (which is the start of the video)
Chris Martin did learn the lyrics backwards which goes with the video being backwards and "going back to the start".
