We use sound effects in TV and Film productions because it makes it more interesting to watch and also makes it more realistic depending on what genre of programme or film your making. We use them because you might not be able to pick up the real sound of something when filming on set.
2. What are the advantages of using SFX's in Tv and Film?
It makes the sounds more clearer and louder. And creates a better atmosphere for the film/programme.
3. What are the disadvantages of using SFX's?
If your making a drama or something about everyday life the normal sounds which have been made loud and outside the set can sound too out the top and fake, almost cartoon like which isn't what you want when making a drama piece.
4. What is the job description of Foley artist?
Foley artists are people who create sounds/noises outside the set/studio. They use different objects, props or clothes to make other noises such as snow crunching, birds wings flapping, bones breaking etc.
Footsteps: Stamp their feet on a marble slab. Change their shoes for different scenes.
Rain: Salt on tin foil.
A person punching another person: A heavy phone book is dropped.
Bone or head injury noise: Frozen romaine lettuce.
Bird wings flapping: A pair of gloves.
